"An increased use of video communications may promote a new and perhaps more sustainable lifestyle where the need for travel and transport is dramatically reduced.
Such new sustainable practices based on new models for learning have
been implemented within the education system worldwide. The
DIVERSE conference gathers several important cases where the use of
video and communications technology already greatly has affected the
way universities teach and learn.
There is a call for change and the question for this session may be
to try to discern the relevance of such "Sustainable Learning
Practices" which recently have emerged - for other application areas
in society as well as for education."
The question for this session will be to try to discern the relevance of "Sustainable Learning Practices" which recently have emerged - for other application areas in society as well as for education."

Active participants of the roundtable will be:
Streaming video has brought an enormous amount of content for higher education within reach This includes material from video archives, broadcasters, captured lectures and events and do-it-yourself material from students. In addition, modern harvesting techniques will find and offer materials from sources which were strictly apart in the past more. Think of video’s, learning objects, stills, etc. Tools for tagging and social bookmarking stimulate teachers and students to exchange content and expertise. Educational technologists wellcome and stimulate the new opportunities for teaching and learning. In the past few years several promising projects have been developed to bring theory into daily practice for teachers and students. We also experienced that content sharing on an international basis (such as in StreamTeam projects) has to cope with a lot of barriers.
StreamTeam, DIVERSE and IAMS, all being international organizations, are all keen to initiate international projects which will focus on making content available for educational use or which have the purpose to share educational content. In this round table we will start with a brief view on a number of national and European projects. The discussion, which is open for all DIVERSE delegates, will focus on: added value of international content sharing, main barriers in international content sharing; could these projects be a model for further international co-operation, how can streamteam facilitate initiatives.
